Throwing it back to my first cast on the new 7 St Croix Triumph Rod. This 27 Cutbow was a true blessing to cross paths with! #stcroixrods #triumph #bestrodsonearth

My Buddy Jake had never fished for crappies before...I figured The Cadillac of Crappie Rods would Help do the Trick, and it sure did! Fish were suspended 5 to 8 feet off Bottom in depths of 25-30 feet of water. #StCroixRods #LegendBlack #IceRods #BestRodsOnEarth

Had a great week on Table Rock and finished 10th in the FLW Costa. Thankful to have had a glass rod in my hand as I hooked this day 1 toad in the tail! #bestrodsonearth

Partner and I fished the ABT on Lake Wheeler yesterday. When the water hits full pool we head to the bushes. During practice we found a couple stretches that had big females, like the one pictured, so we thought we had a plan. We were boat number 203 and were worried our first stop would be covered up, but when we arrived no boats present. TVA dropped the water 8 inches the night before, but those big females that were lock on the bed stayed. We caught 8 fish over 3lbs with our best five at 21.07, good enough for 2nd place and a nice check. Congrats to the winners with over 23lbs of smallies. Equipment, Rod, St Croix Xtreme 711HMF, Reel, Shimano Metanium MGLXF, Line, 20lb Seaguar Tatsu, with a River2Sea Flippin Hook and tungsten weight and a black creature bait.

Tight Lines,

Great day on Green Bay in Oconto, Wisconsin chasing walleye. Launched at 5:30 AM and caught the sunrise of a sunny Spring day. Looking for warm, stained water in depths 8-15, we were casting #6 Rapala Rippin Raps on spinning tackle. Best colors were silver/blue, chartreuse/black back, and a custom purple/antifreeze green. Used a 610 St. Croix Legend Extreme rod, size 2500 Daiwa Ballistic reel spooled with 12 lb. Sunline SX1 green braid and a 3 section of 14 lb. Sunline Shooter Clear Flourocarbon as a leader.#stcroixrods #bestrodsonearth #daiwausa #sunlineamerica #rapala #walleye #walleyefishing

Great day at the Boaters Exchange Fishing Expo in Rockledge, FL !! #stcroixrods #bestrodsonearth

Take A Vet Fishing is a nonprofit organization that I can say, without a doubt, is truly a God send for so many Veterans and their families.

I am honored to know David VanDorne who is a huge part of Take A Vet Fishing and I call him my friend!

Today, Dave, Rich Gallagher (also a great Friend) and I shared the water together on Dave's boat.

Between stories and laughs, I hooked up with a few fish that gave me some good fights. I was casting my St. Croix Legend Elite 7'MF Spinning Rod with a Daiwa Ballistic LT reel, at the end of my line was a few different Live Target crankbaits that gave me a 3 species day. (Northern Pike, Channel Cat and a Muskie).

If the boat never saw a fish all day, it would still have been filed in my memory bank as one of those great days spent with quality people. But, the boat did see fish...so BONUS!

Late ice crappies and the 26" St.Croix Avid Glass does the trick when straight lining big Slabs!

Cabela's in Hoffman Estates, IL just received a very large shipment of St. Croix Rods.

I know many of you have been asking when they were getting the 2018 Legend Tournament, Legend X and the Legend Glass rods.

Well, your wait is over, I was in the store yesterday and they have them! They also had some Muskie, Bass X and Panfish series rods come in.

So, go check them out!

Jigging for Spring Walleye and SaugerIts Spring and that means rivers are the first option to catch walleye and sauger in the Midwest. Ive been fishing rivers since late February down here in Illinois, recently in Wisconsin, and its a great time of year to use jigs with either minnows or plastics. If youve seen any of my recent posts youll notice consistency in the equipment. For either vertical jigging, dragging jigs, or casting jigs on rivers in Spring, here is my go-to setup:Rod: A medium power, extra-fast action spinning rod is a great choice. I fish the St. Croix Legend-X 68 MXF. (XLS68MXF)Reel: A small to medium size spinning reel, size 1000 to a 2500, like a Daiwa 2500 Ballistic, available and redesigned in 2018 as the Ballistic LT. (BLSLT2500D)Line: A hi-vis braid to help see the line in the dirtier water of Spring. I use either 10 lb. test Sunline SX1 or TX1 Yellow Braid.Jigs: Choose the right weight for the depth you are fishing. Generally I use 1/8 oz. to 1/2 oz. in water 2-20 deep. I fish Docs Custom Jigs in various colors: Orange, Chartreuse, Antifreeze Green, and Robin Egg Blue are favorites.#stcroixrods #bestrodsonearth #daiwausa #sunlineamerica #docscustomjigs #walleye #walleyefishing

End of April is near. Snow is still on the ground. First BFL of the season in a week. I'm setting here looking at pictures from the last few month of Florida fishing. Oh well....Here is a cool picture of a "Light Salad Bass" caught using #BestRodsOnEarth St Croix Legend Xtreme LXC74HF reel spooked with 50# braid 3/8 wgt. 4/0 Hvy Ewg. and green pumkin Craw.#BestRodsOnEsrth #StCroixRods #LivingTheDream

A quick couple pics of two of the fish (one pushing 12lbs) while filming yesterday with Capt Brett Jolly and John Gillepsie. Rippin Raps and Jerko-o minnows were the ticket. #stcroixrods #bestrodsonearth were involved in feeling the rather lighter bites than normal. #rapala #kalins #MercuryProTeam
